“Every day Present” correspondent Michael Kosta gave President Donald Trump a reminder of a key promise on tariffs made in the course of the 2024 marketing campaign.
Trump campaigned vigorously on tariffs, calling it “the most beautiful word” and insisting Individuals wouldn’t pay for them.
That modified after he grew to become president.
In February, he admitted tariffs might trigger “a bit of ache” for customers. Final month, he stated he “couldn’t care less” if tariffs raised the value of international vehicles. And his administration and allies have been saying for weeks that buyers should brace for greater costs.
“There’s completely going to be short-term ache,” Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) stated on CNN. “The president’s been clear about that. Everybody has.”
Kosta rolled footage of Trump allies saying he’s been sincere in regards to the influence of tariffs on costs and all people knew that after they voted for him.
“Trump was very sincere in the course of the marketing campaign that tariffs would drive costs greater, proper? Proper?” Kosta mockingly agreed. “Proper?”
Naturally, that led to a video of Trump insisting in the course of the marketing campaign that tariffs wouldn’t increase costs.
“In his protection, he was mendacity,” Kosta stated.
