Pete Hegseth confronted backlash on social media after he provided a defiant assertion to reporters about his scandal-ridden push to turn out to be secretary of protection.
“This won’t be a course of tried within the media. I don’t reply to anybody on this group. None of you, to not that digital camera in any respect,” he advised reporters on Capitol Hill.
“I reply to President Trump, who acquired 76 million votes … and a mandate for change,” he continued. “I reply to the 50 — the 100 senators who’re a part of this course of and people within the committee. And I reply to my Lord and Savior, and my spouse and my household.”
Hegseth is battling to maintain his possibilities afloat amid mounting allegations of misconduct, together with accusations of sexual impropriety, extreme ingesting and monetary mismanagement of two veterans nonprofits he ran.
President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly mulling different candidates to exchange Hegseth, who was a Fox Information host till Trump picked him for the Pentagon job final month.
His remark irked critics, who famous that he’s gunning for a job that’s appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate to serve the pursuits of the American public.
